Support Provided

Participant support may include, as necessary, economy-class round-trip airfare, accommodations, per diem, and meeting registration fees. Recipients will be responsible for visa fees, travel health insurance (required), costs associated with flight changes, and any other costs not mentioned above.

Applying for participant support does not guarantee that it will be granted. If you require support to participate in the 7th Global Forum, do not register until you have been notified if support has been granted. No refunds will be granted for previously paid registrations, or any costs associated with registering or participating prior to receiving award notification.

Eligibility & Criteria for Support

Eligibility for consideration for participant support will be based on the following criteria:

  • Applicant is from a high TB burden country or a lower- or middle-income country; or is a student, postdoctoral fellow, or an early career researcher (less than 10 years from completion of latest educational degree or postdoctoral training)
  • Applicant would not otherwise have the resources to attend the 7th Global Forum
  • Applicant has submitted a letter of support demonstrating the benefit of attendance to the applicant, their colleagues, institution, TB vaccine research, and/or their community

Requests for participant support from individuals who do not meet the eligibility requirements will be considered if there are sufficient funds available after allocating awards to applicants who do meet the eligibility requirements.

The following criteria will be considered in awarding participant support for the 7th Global Forum:

  • Abstract quality, research results, and relevance to the theme of the 7th Global Forum and TB vaccine R&D (if applicable)
  • Potential benefit of attendance to the applicant, their colleagues, institution, TB vaccine research, and/or their community
  • Relevance of attending the 7th Global Forum to the applicant’s career development
  • Region, gender, and area of research or professional focus to allow for diverse and balanced representation and participation
  • Priority may be given to applicants who have not previously received support to attend a Global Forum on TB Vaccines

Support made available through specific grant or donor funding will be allocated to applicants who meet their specific requirements, which may vary from the above eligibility requirements and criteria.

Process

The application deadline closed at 11:59pm Pacific Time on 30 June 2024.

All documents must be submitted in English and in PDF format. Incomplete applications will not be considered for participant support.

  • CV (please do not include personal information such as date of birth, marital status, religion, ethnicity, or home address) or biography
  • Letter of motivation (one page maximum) stating why you are interested in attending the 7th Global Forum, how you will benefit from and contribute to the 7th Global Forum, and how you will share the knowledge you gain at the 7th Global Forum
  • Letter of support from an organization or institution with which you are affiliated or that is familiar with your background, your work, and the benefits of your participation in the 7th Global Forum

If participant support is awarded, you will be provided with the policies and terms for the award and your responsibilities as an award recipient. If you do not agree with the terms, you may decline the award. Acceptance of the award will indicate acceptance of the terms, and failure to comply with those terms may result in revocation of the award, requirement to reimburse the Global Forum for any funds spent, and/or ineligibility for consideration for future travel awards.
