Site Visits

Site visits are being organized on Friday, 11 October 2024. These visits will give you a unique opportunity to visit research facilities and healthcare settings and interact with local researchers and care providers.

You can sign-up for a site visit when you register. If you have already registered or if you want to add a site visit at a later time, you can add a site visit by logging into your registration, selecting the Modify registration option, and advancing to the page where the conference registration and site visits are listed and selecting the site visit in which you want to participate. Click the "Next" button at the bottom of the page to advance to the final page of registration, then click "Submit". You will receive an email confirming your site visit registration. If you do not receive an email, please contact us to confirm that your registration was submitted.

Professor Hélio Fraga Reference Center

A national reference laboratory and outpatient clinic for the treatment of complex cases of drug-resistant TB and other mycobacteria.

Overview

The Professor Hélio Fraga Reference Center (CRPHF) is the national reference institution of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) for tuberculosis and other lung diseases. Distinguished for its support of national public health actions, the CRPHF conducts research, education, diagnosis, and treatment activities for tuberculosis and other mycobacterioses.

Institute of Technology in Immunobiologicals - Bio-Manguinhos/Fiocruz, Fiocruz Castle and Fiocruz Campus

A research campus, vaccine manufacturing facility, and historically significant public health institution. 

Overview

With over 120 years of history, Fiocruz was established in the 19th century to manufacture serums and vaccines against bubonic plague. Since then, Fiocruz has become the most prominent health science and technology institution in Latin America, experiencing a trajectory intertwined with the development of Brazilian public health.

Founded in 1976, Bio-Manguinhos is a technical-scientific unit of Fiocruz that develops, produces, and supplies vaccines, diagnostic reagents, and biopharmaceuticals to Brazil's Unified Health System (SUS). Its portfolio consists of more than 50 products that strengthen national public health programs. The institute also contributes to international public health through exports, mainly of the yellow fever vaccine.

Primary health care, epidemiological surveillance, and vaccination center.

Overview

The Municipal Health Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro will offer a tour that allows participants to engage with basic care for tuberculosis treatment, as well as vaccination and epidemiological surveillance.

Two visits will be offered, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
