Travel and Registration Support

Applications for travel and registration support to attend the 5th Global Forum on TB Vaccines are no longer being accepted.

Support Provided

Support may include as necessary: economy-class round-trip airfare, accommodations (to be designated by the organizers) per diem, and meeting registration fees. Recipients will be responsible for visa fees, travel health insurance, costs associated with flight changes, and any other costs not mentioned above.

The number of travel and registration support awards will depend on the funding available. To allow us to provide as many awards as possible, applicants are requested to seek other funding sources to cover part of their costs, and only apply for those costs for which they are unable to secure funding from other sources.

Key Dates

Recipients will be notified in December 2017. Additional awards may be granted after that date if funding becomes available.

Eligibility and Criteria for Travel and Registration Support

Eligibility for consideration for travel and registration support will be based on the following criteria:

  • Applicant is from a high TB burden country [1] or a lower income or middle income country [2]; or is a student, postdoctoral fellow, or an early career researcher (less than 10 years from completion of postdoctoral training)
  • Applicant would not otherwise have the resources to attend the 5th Global Forum
  • Applicant has submitted an abstract that has been accepted for presentation at the 5th  Global Forum

The following criteria will be considered in awarding travel and registration support for the 5th Global Forum:

  • Abstract quality, research results, and relevance to the theme of the 5th Global Forum and TB vaccine R&D
  • Potential benefit of attendance to the applicant, his/her colleagues, institution and the research community
  • Relevance of Forum attendance to the applicant’s career development
  • Geography and gender, to allow for balance in gender and regional representation at the Global Forum
  • Priority may be given to applicants who have not previously received travel support to attend a Global Forum on TB Vaccines, and applicants who have attempted to secure funding from other sources to cover some of their costs or who have demonstrated limited access to additional funding sources.

Requests for travel and registration support from individuals who do not meet the eligibility requirements will only be considered if there are sufficient funds available after allocating awards to applicants who do meet the eligibility requirements.

Submission of an application and meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee that financial support will be granted. Applicants should not make any arrangements to attend the Global Forum for which they will require financial support until they have received notification of whether or not an award has been granted and the costs that the award will cover.

Support made available through specific grant or donor funding will be allocated to applicants who meet their specific requirements, which may vary from the above eligibility requirements and criteria.

Process

To apply for travel and registration support, submit the following documents in PDF format by email to newdelhi2018@tbvaccinesforum.org. All documents must be submitted in English, double-spaced, using 12 point font. Incomplete applications will not be considered for travel support.

    • How you will utilize and disseminate the information and experience of participating in the Global Forum after you return home to benefit your institution, your colleagues, and the broader research community

If  support is awarded, the recipient will be provided with the policies and terms for the award and their responsibilities as an award recipient. If the recipient does not agree with the terms, she or he may decline the award. Acceptance of the award will indicate acceptance of the terms, and failure to comply with those terms may result in revocation of the award, requirement to reimburse the Global Forum for any funds spent, and/or ineligibility for consideration for future travel awards.
